Pune Collector Issues Fresh Appeal After 200 mm Rain, 2 Rain-Related Deaths

Pune, 6th July 2026: Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi on Monday said that heavy rainfall has severely impacted several parts of the district, with many locations recording more than 200 mm of rain, triggering landslides, flooding, and disruption to road connectivity.

Addressing the media, the Collector said that landslides have been reported from multiple locations, forcing the closure of several roads as a precautionary measure. He assured that officials from various departments are working on the ground to restore normalcy and respond to emergencies.

Dudi confirmed that two people have lost their lives in rain-related incidents across Pune district. He said fatalities were reported from Maval taluka, where continuous heavy rainfall has triggered multiple landslides and rescue operations.

National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been deployed at several vulnerable locations across the district. Rescue operations have been carried out in Maval and Khed talukas, where many residents have been safely evacuated from affected areas.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red Alert for Pune district for Monday, while an Orange Alert has been forecast for Tuesday.

The District Collector appealed to citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and remain indoors unless absolutely essential. He urged residents to strictly follow official advisories and cooperate with the administration during the ongoing adverse weather conditions.

He also said that restoration work on a key connecting road is nearing completion and traffic movement on the affected stretch is expected to resume shortly.
