Pune, 11th July 2026: After nearly a week of incessant rainfall, Pune woke up to partly cloudy skies on Saturday, bringing much-needed relief to residents and thousands of Warkaris participating in the annual Ashadhi Wari procession.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Pune is likely to witness partly cloudy skies with the possibility of light to moderate rainfall over the next few days. No weather warning has been issued for Pune district until July 15, indicating that widespread heavy rainfall is not expected in the immediate future.

The brief spell of pleasant weather has come as a welcome relief for the Wari procession, which began from Dehu and Alandi on July 8 and 9, respectively, and is currently halting in Pune city. The improved weather conditions are expected to make the onward journey more comfortable for devotees while also easing traffic movement and logistical arrangements.

However, the IMD has advised that isolated showers may continue due to active monsoon conditions. Citizens have been urged to remain cautious, particularly during thunderstorms and while travelling on slippery roads.

Meanwhile, heavy rainfall activity is expected to remain concentrated over parts of northeast Maharashtra, where a yellow alert has been issued from July 12 to July 15. The IMD has warned of the possibility of localized flooding, waterlogging in low-lying areas, disruption to transport, and lightning during thunderstorm activity in the affected districts.

Weather officials said that while Pune is likely to experience a temporary respite from persistent rainfall, the southwest monsoon remains active, and intermittent showers are expected to continue throughout the coming week.
