Husband Allegedly Sets House on Fire After Domestic Dispute in Pune; Three Pet Cats Die
Pune, 11th July 2026: A domestic dispute took a tragic turn in Pune’s Sinhagad Road area when a man allegedly set his house on fire following an argument with his wife, resulting in the death of three pet cats and the destruction of household belongings.
The incident occurred in the Savitribai Phule Colony on Sinhagad Road. The accused has been identified as Dayanand Kasbe, a resident of the locality.
Based on a complaint lodged by his wife, Mohini Kasbe (36), the Parvati Police have registered a case against him.
According to the police, the couple had been experiencing marital disputes for the past several days. On the night of July 9, at around 9:30 pm, another argument reportedly broke out between them. During the altercation, Dayanand allegedly set household items on fire.
As the flames spread rapidly, Mohini managed to escape from the house, while the accused allegedly fled the spot.
The fire destroyed household belongings and claimed the lives of the couple’s three pet cats, which were trapped inside the house.
Local residents rushed to the scene and managed to douse the flames with water before the fire could spread further. Fortunately, Mohini escaped the incident without any injuries.
Senior Police Inspector Rajendra Sahane visited the scene following the incident. Assistant Police Inspector Subhash Mahale is conducting further investigation into the case.
