Pune: Schoolgirl, 6, Dies After PMPML Bus Hits Mother’s Scooter Near Punawale
Pune, 13th July 2026: A six-year-old girl was crushed to death after a PMPML bus allegedly hit the two-wheeler on which she was riding with her mother near Pavana bridge in Punawale on Saturday morning while they were on their way to school.
The deceased was identified as Khushbhoo Bishnoi. Based on a complaint lodged by her mother, Ravet police have registered an FIR against the bus driver.
The accused, Sayyad Shabbir Mulani (34), a resident of Nigdi, has been booked under Sections 281 (rash and negligent driving) and 106(1) (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
According to the police, the incident occurred around 11.15 am when the child’s mother was riding from Punawale to Kivale to drop her daughter at school. Preliminary investigation indicates that the PMPML bus allegedly struck the two-wheeler while attempting to overtake it.
The collision threw both riders off the vehicle. The mother sustained injuries, while the girl came under the rear wheels of the bus and died on the spot.
Police have detained the bus driver, and further investigation is underway, said Sub-Inspector Anil Tarfe, the investigating officer.
