Three Major Road Projects Launch in Pune on July 18; CM Fadnavis, Nitin Gadkari to Attend Bhoomi Pujan
Pune, 15th July 2026: The Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation (MSIDC) will perform the groundbreaking ceremony for three major road infrastructure projects in the Pune region on Saturday, July 18, in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari.
Ahead of the event, Maharashtra Public Works Minister Shivendrasinhraje Bhosale on Wednesday reviewed the preparations and urged all concerned departments and local public representatives to work in close coordination to ensure the successful execution of the programme.
The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled to be held at 1:30 pm at Ganesh Kala Krida Manch in Pune.
The three projects include:
Pune–Shirur Expressway
Hadapsar–Yavat Elevated Road
Talegaon–Chakan–Shikrapur Elevated Highway
Speaking during the review meeting, Bhosale said the projects have been planned to address the growing traffic congestion in and around Pune. He added that the Hadapsar–Yavat Elevated Road will be implemented through coordination between the Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation and the Metro administration.
He also said a separate meeting involving the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the Traffic Police will be held to finalise traffic management arrangements during the execution of the projects. The government aims to complete all three projects within four years, he added.
Agriculture Minister Dattatray Bharane said the suggestions and expectations of local public representatives would be taken into consideration during the implementation of the projects.
Member of Parliament Supriya Sule, who joined the meeting virtually, stressed the need to prioritise road works along the Palakhi route, while MP Amol Kolhe called for a comprehensive traffic management plan for the Pune–Shirur road project.
The review meeting was attended by Pune Mayor Manjusha Nagpure, MLAs Rahul Kul, Sunil Kamble, Sharad Sonawane, Dnyaneshwar Katke, Yogesh Tilekar, Chetan Tupe, Bapusaheb Pathare, Hemant Rasane, and Sunil Shelke, Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi, along with senior officials from various departments. MPs Supriya Sule and Amol Kolhe participated via video conferencing.
During the meeting, Ranjit Hande, Chief Engineer of the Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation, gave a detailed presentation on the scope and implementation of the three infrastructure projects.
