Kondhwa Police Arrest Gujarat Man for Rs 14.6 Lakh Theft from Pune Woman He Met on Social Media
Kondhwa, 24th July 2026: Kondhwa police have arrested a 24-year-old Gujarat resident for allegedly stealing cash and gold ornaments collectively worth ₹14,63,496 from a woman’s home after befriending her on social media, said Senior Police Inspector Santosh Khetmalas, in-charge of Kondhwa police station.
“On June 25, the complainant’s social-media friend, whom she knew as Yash, visited her home in Kondhwa Khurd. While she had gone to her aunt’s residence in the same housing society to deliver a meal box, he allegedly stole ₹24,000 in cash and gold ornaments from a cupboard in her bedroom,” Inspector Khetmalas said.
“The stolen property was collectively valued at ₹14,63,496. Kondhwa Police registered Crime No. 494/2026 under Section 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita,” he said.
Khetmalas said technical analysis conducted by police personnel Keshav Hirve indicated that the suspect was in Vadodara, Gujarat.
“A team comprising Police Sub-Inspector Ravindra Gawade and police personnel Amol Hirve, Rahul Rasage and Keshav Hirve travelled to Gujarat and searched for the suspect within the jurisdiction of Gorwa Police Station,” Inspector Khetmalas said.
“The team traced him to Subhanpura on IPCL Road in Vadodara and took him into custody. He identified himself as Yash Kailas Bhulchandani, 24, a resident of Mohadi village in Vijapur taluka of Gujarat’s Mehsana district,” he said.
“His alleged involvement emerged during the investigation, following which he was arrested in the case. Police recovered 16 tolas of stolen gold ornaments valued at ₹14,39,496,” Inspector Khetmalas said.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 5, Rajlakshmi Shivankar and Assistant Commissioner of Police, Wanowrie Division, Ramdas Ingawale, and under the supervision of Senior Police Inspector Santosh Khetamlas and Police Inspector (Crime) Prashant Mandale.
The investigating team comprised Police Sub-Inspector Ravindra Gawade and police personnel Amol Hirve, Ravindra Chippa, Vishal Memane, Rahul Shitole, Keshav Hirve, Rahul Rasage, Pushpendra Chavan, Amit Suryawanshi, Santosh Bansude, Riyaz Patel, Rahul Shelar, Rashid Shaikh, Suraj Shukla, Shahid Rajput and Omkar Shete.
