Pune: 25-Year-Old Shot Near Police Chowky Ghorpade Peth, Three Arrested

Pune, 24th July 2026: A 25-year-old man was shot near a police chowky in Ghorpade Peth on Friday afternoon in an attack allegedly stemming from an old rivalry. Police arrested three suspects within 20 minutes of the incident.

The victim, Khwaja Uddin Nazir Shaikh alias Noor Shaikh, sustained bullet injuries to his back and was rushed to hospital. Doctors said his condition is stable.

According to police, the attack took place around noon when the accused, who had arrived on two-wheelers, allegedly opened fire on Shaikh. Three rounds were fired before the assailants fled the spot.

Police said the main accused, Sujal Sunil Pardeshi, was apprehended while attempting to escape, and three of his associates were also arrested shortly afterwards. The swift operation was carried out by the Khadak police.

Preliminary investigation suggests the firing was the result of previous enmity between the victim and the accused. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway under the supervision of senior police officers.

The broad daylight shooting near a police chowky triggered panic in the area, although the prompt arrests prevented further escalation, police said.
