Smoke From Junction Box at Pune Railway Station Quickly Contained

Pune, 27th July 2026: A short circuit in a junction box above the Signal and Telecommunications (S&T) Office at Pune Railway Station led to smoke being noticed on Monday afternoon. Railway officials said the incident was brought under control within minutes, with no injuries or damage reported.

According to Central Railway, smoke was observed from the junction box at around 3:50 pm. The affected junction box was promptly attended to, and the smoke was extinguished by 3:55 pm.

As a precautionary measure, the power supply to the affected area was isolated and secured. The damaged portion was repaired shortly after the incident.

Public Relations Officer Hemant Kumar Behera said no casualty, injury, or property damage was reported in the incident.
