Pune: Viman Nagar’s Civic Woes Come Under PMC Lens as VNVS Pushes for Action on Encroachments, Hawkers and Traffic
Viman Nagar, 29th July 2026: A delegation of the Viman Nagar Vikas Samiti (VNVS), along with a ward corporator, met Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Commissioner on Tuesday to discuss long-pending civic issues in Viman Nagar and seek time-bound action on encroachments, traffic management and infrastructure concerns.
The meeting was held at the PMC Main Building and followed an interactive discussion conducted on July 25 involving Ward 4 corporators Aishwarya Pathare, Dr Shreyas Khandve, Ramdas Dhabade and Surendra Pathare, along with VNVS founders and core team members.
The discussions were based on the Viman Nagar People’s Charter, which outlines key civic priorities for the area and seeks a structured roadmap for their implementation.
During the meeting, the VNVS delegation raised concerns over illegal hawkers and footpath encroachments, implementation of the proposed dedicated hawker zone, restoration of footpaths, traffic management and unauthorised flexes and banners.
Other issues discussed included water supply, drainage infrastructure and the need for better coordination among PMC departments to ensure timely resolution of civic complaints.
According to VNVS, the Municipal Commissioner heard the concerns and assured the delegation that the issues would be examined and appropriate action initiated through the concerned departments.
The meeting also focused on coordination between the civic administration, elected representatives and citizen groups to ensure effective implementation of the proposed civic action plan.
“Today’s meeting marks an important milestone for Viman Nagar. Constructive collaboration between citizens, elected representatives and the administration is the key to sustainable civic development,” VNVS said in a statement.
The citizen group also thanked the Municipal Commissioner for his response and the ward corporators for their support in raising civic concerns affecting Viman Nagar residents.
