Pune Traffic Alert: Major Diversions Near Railway Station Area on August 8, Saturday, Due to Protest March
Pune, 7th August 2026: Pune Traffic Police have announced traffic diversions and parking restrictions in parts of the city on Saturday, August 8, in view of a protest march scheduled to be held in the Bund Garden traffic division.
According to the Traffic Police, the march will begin at 11 am and proceed from Shaheer Amar Shaikh Chowk to Maaldhakka Chowk and Bohri Ali Mata Chowk. To ensure smooth traffic movement and public safety, temporary traffic restrictions will remain in force from 11.30 am until the conclusion of the procession.
Under the traffic plan:
Vehicles travelling from Shaheer Amar Shaikh Chowk towards Maaldhakka Chowk will be diverted via RTO Chowk and Jahangir Chowk.
Traffic from RTO Chowk towards Maaldhakka Chowk will be diverted through Jahangir Chowk, while vehicles from Shaheer Amar Shaikh Chowk may use the Kumbharves route.
Vehicles moving from GPO Chowk towards Bohri Ali Chowk will be diverted via Kirad Chowk and Nehru Memorial Chowk.
Traffic from Pune Station Chowk towards Maaldhakka Chowk will be diverted via Alankar Chowk.
Vehicles travelling from Narapatigiri Chowk towards Maaldhakka Chowk will be diverted through 15 August Chowk, Kamala Nehru Hospital, Pavale Chowk and Kumbharves Chowk.
Traffic from Bengali Chowk towards Shaheer Amar Shaikh Chowk will be diverted via Power House Chowk, Narapatgiri Chowk, 15 August Chowk, Kamala Nehru Hospital, Pavale Chowk and Kumbharves Chowk.
The Traffic Police said access to Sassoon Hospital for emergency vehicles will remain open through the Dead House (mortuary) entrance gate.
Parking restrictions will also be enforced on roads including Maaldhakka Chowk–Bohri Ali Chowk, Pune Station, Sadhu Vaswani Chowk, GPO, Narapatigiri Chowk, Photofast Press area, and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Road, except for essential service vehicles. Separate parking arrangements have been made near the RTO and SSPMS Ground for participants in the march.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Sandeep Bhajibhakare has appealed to citizens to use alternative routes, cooperate with traffic personnel and volunteers, and avoid inconvenience during the protest march. Emergency service vehicles, including ambulances, police vehicles and fire brigade vehicles, will be exempt from the restrictions.
