Pune: 26-Year-Old Dies by Suicide After Woman Allegedly Accuses Him of Stealing Gold Earring
Pimpri Chinchwad, 10th August 2026: A 26-year-old man allegedly died by suicide after a woman accused him of stealing a gold earring, demanded money from him and threatened to approach the police, officials said. The incident took place in the Bhosari area on July 27.
The deceased has been identified as Vinod Pemaram Chaudhary (26). His father, Pemaram Lasaram Chaudhary (58), a resident of Bhosari and originally from Desuri in Rajasthan, lodged a complaint with the Bhosari police.
Based on the complaint, police have registered a case against a woman for allegedly harassing Chaudhary and demanding money from him.
According to police, the woman suspected that one of her gold earrings had fallen at Chaudhary’s shop. She allegedly demanded Rs 85,000 from him and threatened to lodge a police complaint if he failed to pay the amount.
Chaudhary subsequently allegedly paid her Rs 1 lakh. However, the woman reportedly returned with another person and demanded an additional Rs 55,000, while allegedly threatening him again.
Police said Chaudhary was distressed by the alleged repeated demands and harassment. He subsequently went to the terrace of a building and died after falling from the premises.
The Bhosari police have registered a case based on the complaint and are conducting further investigation into the circumstances surrounding Chaudhary’s death and the alleged money demands.
