125 Bitten by Stray Dogs in 6 Hours in Kalyan-West, 11-Year-Old Girl Critical

Kalyan, 10th August 2026: Fear has gripped residents of Kalyan-West after around 125 people were allegedly bitten by stray dogs within six hours on Sunday, bringing the growing menace of stray dogs in the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) area into sharp focus.

According to available information, the attacks took place between 3pm and 9pm from the Sandeep Hotel area to Aadharwadi in Kalyan-West. The injured residents rushed to the KDMC’s Bai Rukminibai Hospital for treatment, leading to a large crowd at the facility.

Dr Sandeep Pagare, a medical officer at the hospital, said an 11-year-old girl who suffered serious injuries in a dog attack was shifted to Sion Hospital for further treatment. Other injured residents are undergoing treatment at the civic hospital.

The large number of attacks reported from a single area within a few hours has renewed concerns over the stray dog menace in the city. Residents have demanded immediate measures to prevent further attacks.

Police teams from Khadakpada and Mahatma Phule police stations have joined the search for the dog believed to be responsible for the attacks. Local corporators, their supporters and residents are also assisting in the search.
