Pune: Potholes Outside Vishwakarma College in Kondhwa Raise Safety Concerns

Kondhwa, 12th August 2026: Students and residents have raised serious concerns over huge potholes on the road outside Vishwakarma College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Betal Nagar, Kondhwa, Pune.
The badly damaged road has become a major concern for students travelling to and from the college. The potholes are particularly risky for two-wheeler riders and pedestrians, especially during the monsoon when rainwater collects on the road and makes the potholes difficult to identify.
College student Rishi Sahu said, “The potholes outside the college have become a daily problem for students. We have to carefully navigate through the damaged road, and during the rains, it becomes even more difficult and dangerous.”
Another student, Priya Sharma, said, “This is a college area with students travelling throughout the day. The road condition is poor and the authorities should take immediate action before someone gets injured.”
Student Siya Kulkarni said, “The potholes cause inconvenience every day. Vehicles suddenly slow down or move to the other side of the road to avoid them, which also creates traffic problems. The road needs urgent repairs.”
Residents in the area have also expressed concern over the deteriorating road conditions. According to residents, ongoing construction work in the area has added to the traffic and inconvenience.
A local resident said, “Construction work is going on in the area, and because of that there is already heavy traffic. The potholes are making the situation worse for both residents and students.”
Another resident said, “This road is an important route towards Gangadham, so there is considerable vehicle movement throughout the day. With construction, traffic congestion and potholes all together, commuting has become extremely difficult.”
Residents and students have urged the Pune Municipal Corporation and concerned authorities to inspect the road and undertake urgent pothole repairs. They have also called for proper traffic management around the construction zone to prevent further congestion.
With the college located directly along the affected stretch and the road serving as a route towards Gangadham, commuters say immediate action is needed to prevent accidents and ease traffic congestion.
