Pune, 17th August 2026: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has appealed to employers to come forward and voluntarily enrol eligible employees who were previously left out of the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) scheme under the Employees’ Enrolment Campaign (EEC) 2026.

The special campaign, which began on July 1, 2026, will continue until October 31, 2026, with the objective of expanding social security coverage and extending Provident Fund, Pension and Insurance benefits to eligible employees who were not enrolled earlier.

Under EEC-2026, employees who were eligible for EPF membership but were not enrolled and are working in the concerned establishment on the date of declaration can be brought under EPF coverage. The campaign also provides employers an opportunity to voluntarily regularise certain past compliance-related irregularities.

Relief for employers
The EPFO has provided specific relief to employers under the campaign. In cases where the employee share was not deducted from wages, employers are exempted from depositing the employee share.

Under the prescribed provisions, the employer is required to pay the employer share, interest under Section 7Q, applicable administrative charges and a one-time compensation of ₹100 per declaration.

The campaign is applicable to eligible establishments that are already covered under EPF as well as establishments that were not covered earlier. Establishments having pending inspections or proceedings under Section 7A may also avail themselves of the benefits, subject to the prescribed conditions.
Online declaration process
The declaration process under EEC-2026 is completely online and can be submitted through the EPFO portal.

For each eligible employee, a Universal Account Number (UAN) must be created through Face Authentication using the UMANG app. The applicable contribution is then required to be deposited through the Electronic Challan-cum-Return (ECR), after which the corresponding declaration is linked with the Temporary Return Reference Number (TRRN).

Sanat Kumar, Regional Provident Fund Commissioner-I, Akurdi, and Bijayant Kumar, Regional Provident Fund Commissioner-I, Hinjawadi, have appealed to employers to take advantage of the campaign within the stipulated period.

They said the initiative would help expand the social security net by enabling previously excluded employees to access Provident Fund, Pension and Insurance benefits. At the same time, it provides employers with an opportunity to address compliance-related issues through voluntary compliance.
