Pune: Two Young Cousins Die After Electric Shock in Daund
Daund, 19th August 2026: Two cousins, aged 18 and 21, died after suffering electric shocks at Sonawane Mala in Rahu village of Daund taluka on Wednesday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Om Nitin Bhoite (18) and Rohit Anil Bhoite (21). The incident occurred around 7am, leaving the family and residents of the area in shock.
According to preliminary information, Om was inside the house when he suddenly suffered an electric shock. On noticing this, Rohit rushed to help him but also came into contact with the live current.
Their mother also attempted to rescue the two after noticing the incident but escaped unharmed.
Both brothers were rushed to the Yavat rural hospital, where doctors declared them dead after examination.
The exact cause of the electric shock is yet to be ascertained. The authorities are investigating the incident and the reason for the electrical fault is expected to be established after the inquiry.
The deaths have plunged the Bhoite family and residents of Sonawane Mala and surrounding areas into mourning.
