Kondhwa Police Cracks Down on Illegal Drugs

Pune, 21st August 2026: The Kondhwa Police have intensified their crackdown on the illegal sale, distribution and consumption of narcotic substances in the area. As part of a special campaign launched on the directions of the Pune City Police Commissioner, the police have taken action against 109 people over the past two months, including 61 individuals detained during a recent operation at drug hotspots.

According to a press note issued by the Kondhwa Police Station, strict action is being taken against drug sellers, distributors and consumers in different parts of the Kondhwa area.

Police conducted a special operation against individuals allegedly involved in selling illegal substances in areas including Kamble Shivneri Nagar, Ashrafnagar and surrounding localities. The operation targeted people suspected of being involved in the illegal drug trade, and accused persons were taken into custody.

Kondhwa Police have registered eight cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. During these operations, police seized narcotic substances and other material and arrested 21 people in connection with the cases.

Police also conducted search operations at various locations across Kondhwa and registered cases against 21 people allegedly involved in the consumption of narcotic substances.

In a major operation conducted on 17th August 2026, Kondhwa Police officers and personnel carried out a crackdown at hotspots identified for illegal drug sales.

During the operation, 61 people who had allegedly come to purchase ganja were detained and brought to the police station. Police counselled them about the harmful effects of narcotic substance consumption and warned them against involvement in such activities. Legal action was subsequently taken as per the applicable provisions.

According to the police, the latest operation forms part of a wider campaign during which 109 people have been proceeded against over the past two months.

Police appeal to citizens

Kondhwa Police have said that strict action will continue against the illegal sale, distribution and consumption of narcotic substances in the area.

Police have also appealed to residents to immediately inform the Kondhwa Police Station if they have information regarding the sale or distribution of illegal drugs in their neighbourhood.

The police have urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies to curb the growing threat of substance abuse and prevent illegal drug activity in residential areas.
