Akurdi, 21st August 2026: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) was allegedly defrauded through the submission of forged work completion certificates for road widening and concreting projects. The alleged fraud took place between December 17 and 31, 2025, at the PMRDA office in Akurdi.

A case has been registered at Nigdi police station against Shahaji Pandurang Devkar, director of M/s SPD Infra Project Pvt Ltd, based on a complaint filed by Dnyanoba Chaure, deputy engineer with the PMRDA engineering department.

According to police, Devkar allegedly prepared three forged work completion certificates bearing the signatures and seals of the chief officer of Badlapur Municipal Council.

The certificates were allegedly created in connection with tenders for road works involving the Talegaon Dhamdhere–Majak India–Pimple Jagtap–Karandi Phata connecting road in Shirur taluka and the Sanaswadi–Pimple Jagtap road.

Police said the accused allegedly altered the original amounts mentioned in the certificates and presented them as genuine documents during the online tender process, thereby misleading the PMRDA. Nigdi police are investigating the case.
