Pune: Maharashtra Teachers Get Sept 20 Deadline For e-KYC; Failure Means October Month Salary Loss
Pune, 21st August 2026: The Maharashtra School Education Department has extended the deadline for completing e-KYC on the Shalarth system for teachers and non-teaching staff working in aided and partially aided private schools, as well as primary and secondary schools run by Zilla Parishads, until September 20, 2026.
The Directorate of Education (Primary and Secondary) issued a circular announcing the extension. The department had earlier directed employees to complete the e-KYC process by August 2026.
The extension was granted after reviews at the divisional and regional levels indicated that additional time would be required to complete the process for all employees.
The circular, signed by Education Director (Primary) Sharad Gosavi and Education Director (Secondary and Higher Secondary) Dr Mahesh Palkar, states that employees who fail to complete e-KYC by September 20 will not receive their October 2026 salary, which is paid in November. The department has also made it clear that no further extension will be granted for completing e-KYC.
The department has directed all divisional deputy education directors, Zilla Parishad education officers, Mumbai education inspectors and superintendents of salary and provident fund units to immediately inform all schools under their jurisdiction about the deadline.
The department has also issued directions to MahaIT, which is responsible for the technical management of the Shalarth system, to make the required e-KYC facility available immediately.
MahaIT has been instructed to introduce a validation mechanism under which salary bills for October will not be generated in the system for employees whose e-KYC remains incomplete after the September 20 deadline.
