PMC Speeds Up Karvenagar Projects in Pune

Karvenagar, 22nd August 2026: Pune Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram, along with the Mayor Manjusha Nagpure and senior civic officials, inspected several locations in Ward No. 30, Karvenagar, on Saturday to review local infrastructure problems and proposed road projects.

The inspection began at 10.30 a.m. and covered Matoshri Old Age Home, the Shivane–Kharadi Road stretch between Rajaram Bridge and Jawalkar Garden, the Karvenagar end of the new Suncity–Karvenagar bridge, Jawalkar Garden, Tirupati Nagar, the Karvenagar flyover and Bhalchandra Dev Chowk.

Local representatives raised several demands related to road development, land acquisition, flyovers, rehabilitation and public infrastructure. Following the inspection, the Municipal Commissioner issued instructions to the departments concerned to expedite pending work.

At Matoshri Old Age Home near Vitthal Temple, Ram inspected the proposed 12-metre Development Plan road leading towards Vandevi Temple. He directed the Roads Department to submit a land-acquisition proposal within a week. The Property and Management Department was also instructed to take immediate possession of the government-owned land required for the project.

The department was further asked to take appropriate steps to rehabilitate residents affected by road work near Trimurti Gym on Canal Road.

At Matoshri Old Age Home Chowk near Rajaram Bridge, local representatives demanded the construction of a flyover. The Projects Department was directed to consult experts and prepare an appropriate plan after examining the feasibility of the proposal.

The civic team also reviewed progress on the 36-metre-wide Shivane–Kharadi DP Road near Venkatesh Heritage. Of the road’s total length of 1.8 kilometres, around 1.3 kilometres has already been developed. The Commissioner instructed officials to complete land acquisition for the remaining stretch at the earliest.

Around 14,000 square metres of land, belonging to 19 affected property owners, is yet to be acquired. Officials were directed to expedite Transferable Development Rights proposals for approximately 7,000 square metres and initiate the acquisition of the remaining 7,000 square metres.

Ram also ordered the Land Acquisition Department to speed up the acquisition process for the proposed 30-metre DP Road between Jawalkar Garden and Ambedkar Chowk.

During the inspection of the new Suncity–Karvenagar bridge, the Mayor instructed officials to take possession of the remaining land on the Suncity Bridge side towards Sinhagad Road. The Roads Department was asked to initiate the necessary acquisition process.

At Tirupati Nagar near the Warje octroi post, local representatives sought the development of a 30-metre road connecting Tirupati Nagar and Gopinath Nagar. Following discussions, the Mayor and Municipal Commissioner directed officials to plan the road as a major project.

At Panand Road opposite A.J. Avenue, Ram instructed the Property and Management Department to verify whether the site was government-owned and, if confirmed, immediately begin the process of taking possession of it.

Issues concerning Jawalkar Garden and the Karvenagar flyover near Kakade City were referred to the Buildings and Projects departments, respectively. The proposed 24-metre DP Road along the river between Warje and Shivane will be examined by the River Rejuvenation Project Department.

Senior municipal officials present during the inspection included Road Department Superintendent Engineer Abhijit Ambekar, Buildings Department Superintendent Engineer Bipin Shinde, Deputy Commissioners Nikhil More and Vijaykumar Thorat, Projects Department Superintendent Engineer Rajendra Jadhav, Drainage Department Superintendent Engineer Sanjay Gaikwad, and Assistant Municipal Commissioner Asmita Tambe.

Local representatives Rajesh Barate, Reshma Barate, Tejashri Pawale, Swapnil Dudhane and Sushil Mengade were also present.
