Pune Monsoon Tourism: These Maval Destinations Are Drawing Tourists This Rainy Season

Pune, 24th August 2026: Maval taluka has emerged as a popular monsoon tourism destination, with thousands of visitors heading to Lonavala-Khandala, Pavana Dam, Lohagad-Visapur, Karla Caves, Rajmachi, Tikona and Tung to enjoy the region’s scenic landscapes.

The Lonavala-Khandala belt remains among the most popular destinations during the monsoon. Tourist attractions in the region include Bhushi Dam, Tiger Point, Lion’s Point, Rajmachi Point, Duke’s Nose, Valvan Dam and Rajmachi Fort. Hotels, restaurants, parking facilities and homestays are available in the area to cater to visitors.

Several other tourist destinations across Maval are also drawing visitors during the rainy season. These include Lohagad and Visapur forts, Tikona and Tung forts, Bhaja and Karla Caves, Pavana Dam, Vadivale and Thokarwadi dams, Kundmala and seasonal waterfalls.

The Pavana, Andar and Nane Maval regions are particularly popular during the monsoon. Waterfalls, lakes, hills and other natural attractions make these areas popular choices for short trips and weekend outings.
Among the other attractions are Vadivale and Thokarwadi, the Andra Dam area, Malvandi Thule Lake, Kundmala, Dudhivare and Bhaja waterfalls, and Jambhavali.

However, several tourist spots in Maval are located near dams, waterfalls and steep slopes. Visitors have therefore been advised to exercise caution, follow local safety instructions and avoid entering restricted or dangerous areas, particularly during heavy rainfall.
