Nandanik’s 8th Edition of Ekti Natya Shondha to Showcase Bengali Theatre in Collaboration with Pune’s Agnimitra on August 30
Viman Nagar, 24th August 2026: Nandanik Sanstha will present the eighth edition of Ekti Natya Shondha (An Evening of Drama) in collaboration with Pune-based Bengali theatre group Agnimitra on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at Symbiosis International School, Ishanya Campus, Airport Road, Viman Nagar.
As in previous editions, this year’s Ekti Natya Shondha will feature two plays—one presented by theatre artists from Nandanik Sanstha and the other by artists from Agnimitra. The productions belong to different genres, including suspense thriller and melodrama, offering theatre enthusiasts a diverse evening of Bengali theatre.
Speaking about the event, Debashis Mitra, Producer of Ekti Natya Shondha, said, “Ekti Natya Shondha is a Nandanik Sanstha production. Our endeavour is to keep the love for theatre alive across generations. Nandanik Sanstha has always tried to ensure that, alongside social and cultural activities, we continue to nurture the love for art and literature among our audiences and future generations.”
“Ekti Natya Shondha is now in its eighth year, and it gives me immense happiness and gratification to see what we have been able to achieve through this flagship event of Nandanik Sanstha. We have built an audience that is primarily made up of expatriate Bengalis but appreciates and loves Bengali theatre just as audiences in West Bengal do,” he added.
“We are very excited to collaborate with Agnimitra, which is equally committed to keeping the love for Bengali theatre alive and thriving among the Bengali community in Pune. We hope to contribute to this mission in our own small way by giving local talent a platform to showcase their work and encouraging theatre lovers to continue keeping this passion alive,” Mitra said.
Agnimitra to Present ‘Prantik’
Agnimitra will present its acclaimed production ‘Prantik’, featuring a single actor portraying six different characters.
The play tells the story of Asmita, a woman who has been living a life shaped by traditions followed by generations before her. However, an incident at her home unsettles her deeply and forces her to question her belief in the idea of a “sweet home”.
The play explores whether Asmita will surrender to age-old taboos or continue her struggle against them. Through her journey, the story portrays her determination to confront challenges both within herself and in the world around her.
Nandanik to Stage ‘Aguntuk’
Nandanik Sanstha will present ‘Aguntuk’, a Bengali adaptation of one of Agatha Christie’s celebrated murder mysteries.
The story revolves around a group of strangers trapped in an isolated setting. As suspicion grows and secrets begin to emerge, every character becomes both a potential victim and a suspect. Filled with suspense, unexpected revelations and psychological tension, Aguntuk keeps the audience guessing until the final act.
