Anju S Shende Takes Charge as Pune Principal District and Sessions Judge

Pune, 25th August 2026: Anju S Shende assumed charge as the Principal District and Sessions Judge of Pune on Monday.

Shende joined the judicial service as a district judge in 2010 and has served in various courts and judicial positions during her career.

She has served as a judge at the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Court in Amravati, the Family Court in Mumbai, the court dealing with atrocities against women, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Court and the special Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) Court.

She has also served as the Additional Chief Judge of the Small Causes Court in Mumbai, a member of the Industrial Court in Nagpur and a special POCSO judge in Wardha.

Shende served as Registrar at the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court. She has also held the post of Principal District and Sessions Judge in Beed, Bhandara and Osmanabad.

Before joining the judiciary, Shende worked with the non-governmental organisation SEARCH in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) on healthcare issues concerning tribal women.

Pune Bar Association president Kaluram Bhujbal and other office-bearers welcomed Shende following her appointment as the Principal District and Sessions Judge.
