Pune: Sunetra Pawar Visits Pimpalwadi Family After Minor’s Rape-Murder, Assures Strict Action

Junnar, 27th August 2026: Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar on Thursday visited Pimpalwadi in Junnar taluka and met the family of a nine-and-a-half-year-old girl who was allegedly sexually assaulted and brutally murdered. Pawar offered condolences to the family and assured them that the government would stand firmly by them.

Pawar said the accused in the case would face the strictest possible action. She said the government would ensure a transparent and thorough investigation and take all necessary steps to secure stringent punishment for those responsible under the law.

The deputy chief minister also sought details of the investigation from Pune district superintendent of police Sandeep Singh Gill. She directed the police to ensure that no lapses occurred during the probe, complete the investigation swiftly and effectively, and file the chargesheet at the earliest.

Pawar said the case would be tried in a fast-track court to ensure that the accused is punished at the earliest. She also directed the administration to provide the victim’s family with a house under the Gharkul Yojana for rehabilitation and safe shelter.

In view of the incident, authorities have been directed to immediately install CCTV cameras and high-mast lights at strategic locations in the area to enhance the safety of women and children.

Pawar also announced that a special camp would be organised in the Pimpalwadi settlement to facilitate the issuance of caste certificates. A special drive would also be conducted to assist families in obtaining the required documents.

The NCP Welfare Fund will provide Rs 5 lakh in financial assistance to the victim’s family, Pawar said. She also said she had discussed the matter with Women and Child Development Commissioner Varsha Vantwal and directed the department to provide Rs 10 lakh to the family under the Manodhairya scheme. The assistance has been approved by the judicial committee and the amount will be credited to the family’s bank account on Thursday, she said.

Pawar assured the family that the government would provide all necessary assistance and support and make every effort to ensure justice.

MLA Sharad Sonawane, Pune district superintendent of police Sandeepsingh Gill, Zilla Parishad members Chhaya Tambe, Kalpana Kale and Sonabai Dabhade, along with Amit Benke, Vikas Darekar, Devaram Lande, Pooja Butte, Supriya Lende, deputy superintendent of police Dhananjay Patil and a large number of residents of Pimpalwadi were present during the visit.
