3 Bangladeshi Nationals Detained in Pune’s Kondhwa After Military Intelligence Input

Kondhwa, 28th August 2026: The Pune Police Special Branch (SB), in coordination with the Military Intelligence (MI) unit of the Army’s Southern Command, Pune, detained three Bangladeshi nationals allegedly residing illegally in the Kondhwa area following an intelligence-based operation on Thursday.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Branch) Prashant Amrutkar, the operation was conducted around 3 pm on August 27 based on information developed by Military Intelligence.
The three individuals include Motiar Gaji, who was working as a labourer at a construction site, and two women who were allegedly involved in prostitution. The police detained them during the operation and subsequently conducted preliminary questioning and verified their documents, as well as details regarding their entry into India.
Police officials said the verification indicated that the three had entered India illegally.
“Detention orders are being issued against them, and they will remain in custody pending further legal proceedings and formal deportation to Bangladesh,” DCP Amrutkar told Punekar News.
The Pune Police Special Branch and other agencies are maintaining vigilance in areas considered vulnerable to illegal immigration and conducting verification drives based on intelligence inputs, officials said.
