Pune: PMC Chief, Collector Set Deadlines for Missing Roads, HCMTR, Inner Ring Road Land Acquisition

Pune, 28th August 2026: Pune Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram and district collector Jitendra Dudi on Friday directed officials to expedite work on missing road projects, clear pending land acquisition and administrative hurdles for the High Capacity Mass Transit Route (HCMTR), and complete time-bound steps for land acquisition for the proposed Inner Ring Road to ease traffic congestion and strengthen the city’s long-term transport network.

The directions were issued during separate meetings held at the district collector’s office to review the three projects. Officials from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), district administration, Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), land acquisition department and consultants attended the meetings.

Missing roads

The officials reviewed the status of various missing road projects in the city, including land acquisition requirements, availability of land, properties involved, road connectivity requirements and pending administrative issues.

Dudi directed the concerned departments of the PMC and district administration to expedite land acquisition and other administrative procedures and resolve pending issues at the earliest.

Missing road projects are considered important for improving connectivity between different parts of the city and reducing traffic congestion. Dudi also asked the departments to coordinate with each other and regularly review the progress of the works.

HCMTR

The meeting on the HCMTR project focused on the status of land acquisition, pending cases at various stages, properties involved, available government land and hurdles in the acquisition process.

Officials were asked to prioritise land acquisition and take up each pending case separately to resolve the issues delaying the process. The PMC and district administration were directed to coordinate closely and ensure that land availability, surveys, property-related matters and required documentation are completed on time.

The officials also discussed the importance of HCMTR in addressing the long-term transport needs of Pune amid increasing urbanisation, reducing pressure on major roads and providing alternative transport corridors.

Dudi said all agencies involved should work in coordination to expedite land acquisition and other pending matters so that further work on the project can progress without delay. Regular coordination meetings and reviews were also directed to ensure timely decision-making.

Inner Ring Road

For the proposed Inner Ring Road, the district administration has set a time-bound programme to speed up land acquisition.

Dudi directed that all land acquisition cases, along with the required documents, be submitted to the district administration by August 31. Physical measurement of the concerned land parcels should begin by September 10, while a meeting to determine land rates and initiate further action should be held by October 10.

The meeting reviewed the availability of land required for the project, its current acquisition status, details of landowners, government land, necessary documentation and hurdles faced during the process.

Officials were instructed to complete the required documentation and submit pending acquisition cases by the August 31 deadline. Following this, surveys, maps and other technical procedures are to be initiated by September 10.

After the measurement process, the concerned departments will meet by October 10 to expedite determination of the market value and rates of the land required for the project.

Officials from the PMC, PMRDA, land acquisition and revenue departments, engineers and consultants, including representatives of Monarch Consultants, attended the meeting.

Dudi directed the PMC, PMRDA, land acquisition department, revenue machinery and consultant agencies to coordinate closely and ensure that each stage of the acquisition process is completed within the prescribed deadlines.

He also asked officials to submit regular progress reports and immediately escalate issues that cannot be resolved at the departmental level, with the aim of making the required land available for the project’s next phase.
