Pune Drug Bust: ANTF Arrests 3 Mephedrone Suppliers, Including 2 Foreign Nationals in Baner

Baner, 28th August 2026: The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of Maharashtra Police has arrested three alleged drug suppliers, including two foreign nationals, in connection with a mephedrone trafficking case registered at Baner Police Station in Pune.
The arrests followed nearly two months of investigation involving interrogation, financial tracking and technical analysis to trace the suspected drug supply network, officials said.
The accused have been identified as Vikram Kalekar (30), a resident of Karjat in Raigad district; Cisse Sadio alias Alex (30), a Senegalese national residing in Dombivli, Thane; and Jele Beasmark (30), a citizen of Eswatini residing in Karjat.
According to the ANTF, 22 grams of mephedrone, eight mobile phones and a laptop were recovered from Sadio, while another 14 grams of mephedrone was allegedly seized from Beasmark. The agency did not specify whether any contraband was recovered from Kalekar.
Jyotipriya Singh, Special Inspector General of Police, Anti-Narcotics Task Force, Maharashtra State, Pune, said the investigation is focused on identifying the wider network involved in the suspected trafficking and distribution of mephedrone.
“The investigation is being carried out to trace the entire supply chain, including the local distribution network and possible international links. We are using financial and technical analysis along with sustained interrogation to identify other persons involved in the network,” Singh said.
Seven arrested in Baner mephedrone case
The case was initially registered as Crime Register No. 201/2026 at Baner Police Station. Three suspects were arrested on June 26 after police allegedly seized 98 grams of mephedrone, commonly known as MD.
Another suspect was subsequently arrested during the investigation.
With the latest arrests, the total number of people arrested in the case has risen to seven, according to the ANTF.
The agency said it is investigating the suspected local distribution network and possible international connections of the alleged drug syndicate. The operation is part of intensified action against narcotics trafficking in Maharashtra.
ANTF appeals to citizens
The ANTF has appealed to citizens to share information about individuals involved in the sale, storage or transportation of illegal drugs.
Officials said the identity and details of informants would be kept confidential.
The ANTF said further investigation is underway.
