Pune: Two Booked Over Alleged ‘Derogatory’ Social Media Video Against Minister Chandrakant Patil

Pune, 31st August 2026: Deccan police have registered a case against two people for allegedly circulating a video containing derogatory and abusive remarks against Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil on social media.

BJP corporator Sunil Pandey, 56, a resident of Bhandarkar Road in Deccan Gymkhana, lodged a complaint with the Deccan police, following which a case was registered against the two accused.

According to police, the accused recently uploaded the video on the social media account ‘Rajkaran Express’. The video carried the message, “Leaders do not answer people’s questions. Patil is one of them,” and allegedly contained derogatory and abusive language against the minister.

Pandey approached the police after noticing the video and alleged that it contained obscene and abusive language along with remarks intended to defame Patil.

Police have registered a case under Sections 356, 296 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Assistant Police Inspector Jadhav is conducting the investigation.
