Pune: Prepare Plan to Lift 5 TMC Water from Mulshi Dam: State Govt to PMC

Pune, 2nd September 2026: The state government has directed the Pune Municipal Corporation to prepare a detailed plan for lifting five TMC of water from Mulshi Dam. Additional Municipal Commissioner Pavneet Kaur said the plan would be ready soon. This is expected to help meet Pune’s growing demand for additional water in the near future.

The Water Resources Department has already given in-principle approval for making approximately five TMC of water available from Mulshi Dam. Talks are also underway with Tata Hydro Power Company on the matter. However, the civic body still needs to prepare a concrete plan on how the water will actually be lifted from the dam, Kaur said.
