Pune Auto Ride: Rs 3 Luggage Fee, Night Surcharge and New Meter Rules Explained

Pune, 2nd September 2026: Revised autorickshaw fares have come into effect across Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad and Baramati from September 1, according to a press note issued by the Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO).
Under the revised tariff, passengers will be charged ₹30 for the first 1.5 kilometres, up from ₹25, and ₹20 for every subsequent kilometre, compared with the earlier rate of ₹17.
“The revised fare structure came into effect on September 1 following its approval at a meeting of the Pune Regional Transport Authority held on August 3,” Pune Regional Transport Officer Archana Gaikwad said.
Gaikwad said autorickshaws operating within the Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal limits would be permitted to levy a 25% surcharge between midnight and 5 am. Autorickshaws operating in rural areas outside the municipal limits may charge a 40% surcharge between 11 pm and 5 am.
A ₹3 charge per item will apply to luggage measuring 60 cm by 40 cm or larger, according to the RTO.
The RTO has allowed autorickshaw owners to have their electronic meters recalibrated free of charge between September 1, 2026, and February 28, 2027. Temporary tariff cards reflecting the revised fares have also been issued and will remain valid until February 28.
“From March 1, 2027, tariff cards will no longer be accepted, and drivers will be required to charge passengers strictly according to recalibrated electronic meters,” Gaikwad said.
Meter-testing and recalibration facilities have been arranged at three locations: opposite Alankar Police Station in Karvenagar; at the RTO parking facility near EON IT Park and opposite Kharadi Police Station; and at the Dive testing ground.
The RTO has asked autorickshaw owners to complete the recalibration process within the stipulated period. Drivers have also been directed to carry valid vehicle documents, display their identity cards, wear the prescribed uniform, follow traffic rules, avoid carrying passengers beyond the permitted capacity and refrain from refusing fares.
