Pune, 2nd September 2026: A Pune-based redevelopment advisory firm has launched a WhatsApp-based assistant that aims to help housing society members get quick, source-backed answers to questions around redevelopment, a process that can involve complex legal, financial and regulatory decisions.
Dreams Redeveloped has launched ‘Redevelopment Guru’, a WhatsApp-based service that allows society members to ask questions related to redevelopment and receive answers linked to sources such as RERA records, Inspector General of Registration (IGR) title history and relevant regulations.
The initiative is aimed at addressing the information gap that often exists between housing society members and developers, according to the company.
“Redevelopment is often a once-in-a-lifetime decision for a housing society, while developers deal with such projects every day. Members need clarity on legal, financial, architectural and regulatory matters before they can take informed decisions,” said CA S. Lakshminarayanan, founder of Dreams Redeveloped.
“Redevelopment Guru is our attempt to put credible, verifiable information directly in the hands of society members, in a format that is simple and accessible,” he added.
How the WhatsApp assistant works
The service has been designed around WhatsApp, an application already widely used by housing society members, including senior citizens.
Members can send “Guru” to 9699653592 and ask a question related to redevelopment. The company said query resolution is currently being offered free of charge.
The assistant is intended to help members understand issues they may need to discuss with developers, society committees and professional consultants. The company said the platform can also help users identify questions they should raise during redevelopment-related meetings.
Dreams Redeveloped said the service is particularly intended to assist senior citizens and society members for whom their homes represent a significant portion of their lifetime assets.
The company said its objective is not to speed up paperwork but to provide “faster clarity” to society members before they participate in discussions and decision-making.
From a society chairman’s experience to a startup
The idea for the service emerged from Lakshminarayanan’s own experience as chairman of his housing society in Pune during its redevelopment process.
According to the company, the idea took shape after a society member asked him a question to which he did not have an immediate answer.
A chartered accountant by qualification, Lakshminarayanan holds an MBA from the Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad, and has more than eight years of experience working with India’s stock and power exchanges.
Dreams Redeveloped was founded in 2020 and currently operates across Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad.
The company said it has worked with more than 400 housing societies, completed 125 feasibility reports and has 24 projects formally signed. Its network includes 112 developers and more than 40 allied consultants, including architects and legal and redevelopment specialists.
Paid services in the pipeline
While the WhatsApp query-resolution service is currently free, the company is developing paid modules covering feasibility reports, Special General Meeting (SGM) vetting, agreement vetting and developer vetting.
Dreams Redeveloped plans to expand Redevelopment Guru and its associated services across Maharashtra. A web application for paid services and a dedicated mobile application are also planned.
The startup is incubated under the FMCIII initiative launched by Marathwada Mitramandal, Tata Technologies and Science and Technology Park.
The company said it plans to use technology to make the redevelopment process more accessible and streamlined for housing societies.
