Lohgaon, 3rd September 2026: The Lohgaon police have booked a 46-year-old resident of Lohegaon for allegedly stalking, assaulting, and attempting to outrage the modesty of a 20-year-old college student following an altercation while walking their pet dogs.

The accused has been identified as Suryakant Ramrao Joshi (46), a resident of Swapnapurti Building, Siddhivinayak Colony, Sant Nagar, Lohgaon.

According to the First Information Report (FIR) registered at Lohgaon Police Station, the incident took place on the evening of August 31, 2026, between 7:45 PM and 7:55 PM. The complainant, a 20-year-old student residing in the same building, had gone downstairs around 7:30 PM with her 23-year-old sister to walk their pet dog.

The victim stated that Joshi, who was also walking his two dogs, began trailing them inside the society premises. Sensing suspicious behavior as Joshi allegedly followed them wherever they moved, the victim instructed her sister to take their dog back upstairs.

As the victim reached the first-floor corridor outside Joshi’s residence, Joshi allegedly confronted her, initiated a scuffle, and physically assaulted her. The complaint alleges that Joshi pulled her hair, forced her to the floor, groped her chest, and attempted to tear her clothes with intent to disrobe her.

Hearing the victim’s cries for help, other residents of the building rushed to the corridor, prompting the accused to retreat into his apartment. The victim fled upstairs to her home and informed her mother. The family subsequently approached the Lohgaon police. Society CCTV footage from the building corridor around the time of the incident also captured heated altercations and commotion.

Based on the woman’s formal complaint, the Lohgaon police registered FIR No. 0222/2026 shortly past midnight on September 1, 2026. Joshi has been booked under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, under sections:
