Pune: Chargesheet Filed Within 15 Days in Pimpalwandi Minor Girl’s Rape-Murder Case

Junnar, 8th September 2026: The Pune Rural Police have filed a chargesheet in a Pune court against 25-year-old Sahil Khaire in connection with the rape and murder of a minor girl in Pimpalwandi village of Junnar taluka. The chargesheet was filed within 15 days of the August 18 incident and includes the spot panchnama, medical and forensic reports, technical evidence, and statements of eyewitnesses and other witnesses.
According to police, Khaire, a Pimpalwandi resident, allegedly lured the girl with the promise of giving her guavas and took her to a sugarcane field on August 18. He allegedly sexually assaulted and murdered her there. A case was registered at Alephata police station following the incident, and Khaire was arrested.
A special investigation team was formed under the guidance of Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill and Additional Superintendent of Police Shubham Kumar. The investigation was conducted under the supervision of Junnar Sub-Divisional Police Officer Dhananjay Patil and led by Senior Inspector Vishwas Jadhav.
Police said the investigation involved collecting physical, medical, forensic, technical and circumstantial evidence, along with recording statements of witnesses. SP Gill said police also independently verified information about alleged resentment among villagers over Khaire’s conduct. However, no formal complaint had previously been lodged against him. Villagers have demanded the death penalty for Khaire.
