Pune: Girl Dies After Two-Wheeler Carrying Father, Two Daughters Comes Under Container in Katraj

Pune, September 8, 2026: A young girl died after the two-wheeler she was travelling on with her father and sister came under the wheels of a container on the Katraj-Kondhwa Road in Pune on Tuesday, police said.

The accident took place in front of Kapilamrut Dairy, within the jurisdiction of the Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station. According to the police, the container (HR-38-W-6977) was travelling from Katraj towards Kondhwa when the two-wheeler (MH-12-ZM-3579), carrying a man and his two daughters, was taking a U-turn near the dairy.

The two-wheeler came under the front wheels of the container. The man and one of his daughters, identified as Vaishnavi Naik, sustained minor injuries.

His other daughter, identified as Pratibha Naik, suffered serious injuries and was shifted to Bharati Hospital for treatment. However, she died while undergoing treatment, police said.

The Bharati Vidyapeeth police have taken the container and its driver into custody. The process of registering a case against the driver is underway.
