Pune: Maharashtra Government Seeks Suggestions on Recruitment Exam Reforms; Pune Consultation on September 12

Pune, 9th September 2026: The Maharashtra government has initiated a comprehensive review of the recruitment examination system in the state and has sought suggestions and feedback from students, competitive examination aspirants, educational institutions, examination agencies and other stakeholders.

The Joint Director of Higher Education, Pune Division, has informed universities and colleges across Pune district about a divisional-level consultation meeting scheduled for September 12, 2026, at the Department of Geology Auditorium, Savitribai Phule Pune University. The meeting will be held from 10.30 am to 5.30 pm.

The move follows a letter from the Pune District Collector and District Magistrate regarding reforms in the recruitment examination system. The state government has constituted a high-level committee to undertake a detailed study of various aspects of recruitment examinations and gather views from those directly involved in the process.

According to the communication, the consultation will focus on issues including question paper and examination-centre management, security and confidentiality, use of technology, communication with candidates, grievance redressal and candidates’ experiences with the examination process. Stakeholders can also raise other concerns and suggest measures to improve the recruitment examination system.

A special coordination cell has been established at the Pune District Collector’s Office to coordinate the consultation process.

Students, competitive examination candidates, educational institutions, experts and other stakeholders have been asked to submit their suggestions and feedback by September 10, 2026, via email at [email protected].

The Higher Education Department has also directed universities and colleges in Pune district to inform students and potential competitive examination candidates about the consultation and give the initiative wide publicity. The suggestions received through email and during the consultation will be considered by the committee as part of its review of the recruitment examination system.
