Three Pune Police Personnel Suspended for Attending Accused’s Son’s Birthday Party
Pune, 12th September 2026: Three police personnel from Pune City police have been suspended for allegedly participating in the birthday party of the son of an accused in a case registered under the PITA Act.
The suspended personnel are PSI Shubham Vijay Surve, attached to Faraskhana Police Station, and PSI Yogesh Bhagchandra Ekshinge and PSI Abhijeet Anil Shinde, both attached to the Pune City Traffic Branch.
According to the suspension order issued on Friday, the three were found to have participated in the birthday party of the son of an accused in a case registered under the PITA Act on July 2, 2026.
The order states that their conduct was “undisciplined and irresponsible” and had tarnished the image of the disciplined police force among the public. The three were held responsible for irresponsible and negligent conduct in the discharge of their duties.
They have been suspended from government service with effect from the date of the order, pending the proposed preliminary/departmental inquiry. The action has been taken under Rule 3(1-A)(1)(a) of the Mumbai Police (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1956, and Section 25 of the Mumbai Police Act, 1951.
During the suspension period, the officers will be entitled to subsistence allowance as per the Maharashtra Civil Services rules. They will also continue to receive applicable allowances, including dearness allowance on the subsistence allowance.
The suspended personnel have been directed to submit a monthly certificate stating that they have not undertaken any private employment or business during the suspension period. If they take up private employment or business, they will lose their entitlement to subsistence allowance for the suspension period.
No leave will be admissible during the suspension. They will also require permission from the Additional Commissioner of Police (Administration), Pune City, to leave the headquarters.
Under Section 15 of the Mumbai Police Act and a Maharashtra Director General of Police circular dated April 4, 2013, the three officers have been directed to report daily to the Reserve Police Inspector at Shivajinagar Police Headquarters, Pune City.
The order was issued with the approval of the Police Commissioner by Additional Commissioner of Police (Administration) Sanjay Patil.
