Pune: Injured Peacock Rescued After Electric Shock In Kamshet

Kamshet, 14th September 2026: A peacock injured after reportedly suffering a severe electric shock was rescued from Nesave in Maval with the prompt intervention of the Forest Department and wildlife volunteers.

Farmer Gulab Shirsat found the peacock in a seriously injured condition in a field near his house. He immediately contacted the Forest Department and informed officials about the incident.

Following the information, Jigar Solanki and Pramod Oval, members of the Vanyajeev Rakshak Maval organisation, along with Forest Department officials, rushed to the spot. A preliminary inspection found that the peacock had sustained injuries after suffering a severe electric shock.

The team carefully rescued the bird with the assistance of Prashant Oval, Amol Rokade and local residents of Nesave.

Following the rescue, the injured peacock was sent to a government-approved wildlife rescue centre in Pune for immediate treatment under the guidance of the Forest Department.

The wildlife volunteers and Forest Department personnel also conducted an awareness drive among villagers on wildlife conservation. Officials and wildlife enthusiasts thanked Shirsat and the local residents for their prompt action, which helped ensure timely treatment for the injured national bird.

Nilesh Garade, founder of Vanyajeev Rakshak Maval organisation, and its president Anil Andre appealed to citizens to immediately contact nearby animal lovers or the Forest Department helpline at 1926 if they find any injured wild animal.
