Pune: Officials Told to Step Out of Offices for Field Inspections; PMC Commissioner Issues Orders
Pune, 15th September 2026: Pune Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram has directed Assistant Commissioners and Junior Engineers of all PMC ward offices to conduct field inspections during the first half of every working day to ensure that civic issues are identified and addressed promptly.
As per the order, officials must inspect their respective areas and record issues related to roads, drains, sewage systems, sanitation, solid waste management, water supply, encroachments and public health, among other civic concerns.
Officials have been instructed to ensure that the identified issues are resolved within the prescribed time frame. All concerned departments must coordinate with each other to facilitate timely action, the order states.
Issues that can be resolved at the ward level must be addressed immediately. Matters requiring approval, additional resources or administrative sanctions at the headquarters level must be brought to the notice of the concerned department heads promptly, along with complete details.
The PMC has also made it mandatory for officials to document each civic issue and the action taken through photographs or videos in a ‘before-and-after’ format. These records must be preserved as evidence of the action taken.
A consolidated report covering the week’s observations, action taken, matters referred to department heads and their current status must be submitted every Friday to the Municipal Commissioner and the concerned Additional Commissioner. The reports will be compiled ward-wise and administrative zone-wise.
Officials will also be required to update a dedicated Google Sheet every week with details of their inspections and the action taken.
To review civic issues, the Municipal Commissioner will hold a meeting every Monday morning. Attendance will be mandatory for all Deputy Commissioners of administrative zones, Assistant Commissioners and Junior Engineers.
The order further states that any failure to comply with these directions will be viewed seriously, and appropriate action will be taken against the concerned officials.
