Loud DJ Action in Pimpri-Chinchwad: 50 Cases Filed During Ganeshotsav, 40 Items Seized
Pimpri-Chinchwad, 23rd September 2026: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Police have registered 50 cases for noise pollution across the four police zones since Ganesh Chaturthi, with the highest number of cases reported in Zone 2.
Police have also seized 40 items of equipment, including DJ sound systems, mixers, amplifiers and vehicles, Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey said. He added that action against those violating noise pollution norms would continue.
Of the 50 cases, 15 were registered in Zone 1, 21 in Zone 2, five in Zone 3 and nine in Zone 4.
The action has included cases against office-bearers of Ganesh mandals accused of using loudspeaker systems beyond permissible limits during immersion processions.
In the Sangvi area, cases were registered against office-bearers of nine Ganesh mandals for allegedly using loud sound systems and disturbing public peace during the immersion procession. Police also registered cases against office-bearers of five mandals under Talegaon Dabhade police station and two mandals under Shirgaon-Parandwadi police station.
At Shirgaon-Parandwadi, a total of 38 public Ganesh idols were immersed on the seventh day of the festival. During the immersion processions, police found that mandals from Chandkhed and Ozarde were allegedly using sound systems above the prescribed noise limits.
“Legal action was taken against both mandals after they were found using loudspeakers beyond the prescribed limits,” said Devendra Chavan, Senior Police Inspector, Shirgaon-Parandwadi Police Station.
Similarly, cases were registered against office-bearers of five Ganesh mandals under Talegaon Dabhade police station for allegedly using DJ systems at high volume, said Kishor Patil, Senior Police Inspector.
Police seized DJ sound systems, mixers, amplifiers and vehicles during the action.
Ahead of Ganeshotsav, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police had issued specific directions to mandals regarding noise pollution and asked them not to use high-volume DJ systems. The police also directed organisers to comply with the noise limits prescribed by the Supreme Court and Bombay High Court to maintain public peace and law and order during the festival.
