From Mahakal 2.0 to Abhedya Taal, New Dhol-Tasha Rhythms Set the Pace for Pune Ganesh Visarjan
Pune, 25th September 2026: The immersion procession of Pune’s five Manache Ganpati began at 9:45 am on Friday amid the beating of dhol-tasha drums, lezim performances, daredevil displays, elaborately decorated chariots and large crowds of devotees.
The first Manacha Ganpati, Kasba Ganpati, took six hours and 57 minutes to reach the immersion point. The idol reached the immersion site at 4:40 pm and was immersed two minutes later at 4:42 pm.
The procession of Kasba Ganpati began at 9:45 am, making the total duration from the start of the procession to immersion six hours and 57 minutes.
The remaining four Manache Ganpati arrived in the procession through the evening. Tambdi Jogeshwari Ganpati, the second Manacha Ganpati, arrived at 5 pm, followed by Guruji Talim Ganpati at 5:05 pm, Tulshibaug Ganpati at 5:34 pm and Kesariwada Ganpati at 6:11 pm.
Laxmi Road witnessed a large gathering of devotees from the morning. Dhol-tasha groups performed a variety of rhythms, keeping the atmosphere lively throughout the day. New compositions such as ‘Mahakal 2.0’, ‘Agnipath’, ‘Shivraj’, ‘Ramlakhan’, ‘Dhurandhar’ and ‘Abhedya Taal’ were among the highlights of this year’s procession.
The Dnyan Prabodhini dhol-tasha group participated in the procession on Laxmi Road. Vaishali Anantkumar, 57, drew attention by playing the dhol alongside younger members of the group.
The Vighnaharta Dhol-Tasha Pathak from Hadapsar participated in the Tambdi Jogeshwari Ganpati procession and also brought a toy vehicle for children.
Daredevil performances, lezim displays, decorated chariots and young devotees dancing to the dhol-tasha rhythms kept Laxmi Road immersed in the festive spirit throughout the day.
