Central Railway Announces 418 Diwali and Chhath Special Trains; Bookings Open September 27 and 28
Mumbai, 25th September 2026: Central Railway will operate 418 special train services during the upcoming Puja, Diwali and Chhath festival season on several routes connecting Mumbai, Pune, Hadapsar and other major destinations. The services include daily, weekly and bi-weekly trains, along with special services operating multiple days a week.
The special trains will connect key destinations including Gorakhpur, Chennai, Bengaluru, Latur, Nagpur, Kolhapur, Mau, Thiruvananthapuram, Madgaon, Banaras, New Amravati and Ghazipur City.
Major Festival Special Services
Among the services announced are 64 CSMT–Gorakhpur–CSMT daily services. Train No. 01079 will operate from CSMT to Gorakhpur from October 16 to November 16, while Train No. 01080 will run from Gorakhpur to CSMT from October 18 to November 18.
The railway will also operate 12 CSMT–Chennai–CSMT weekly AC services, with Train No. 01015 running every Wednesday from October 14 to November 18 and Train No. 01016 returning every Thursday from October 15 to November 19.
The CSMT–Sri M Visvesvaraya Terminal Bengaluru–CSMT weekly AC special will operate for 14 services. Train No. 01013 will run every Saturday from October 10 to November 21, while Train No. 01014 will operate from Bengaluru every Sunday from October 11 to November 22.
A 26-service CSMT–Latur–CSMT bi-weekly special will run every Tuesday and Thursday from October 13 to November 24.
Other Mumbai-origin services include special trains to Nagpur, Kolhapur, Mau, Thiruvananthapuram, Madgaon and Banaras.
Pune and Hadapsar Routes
For passengers from Pune, a 12-service Pune–New Amravati–Pune weekly AC special will operate from October 13 to November 18. Train No. 01403 will leave Pune every Tuesday, while Train No. 01404 will return from New Amravati every Wednesday.
The Hadapsar–Ghazipur City–Hadapsar bi-weekly special will run for 24 services. Train No. 01431 will operate from Hadapsar every Tuesday and Friday from October 13 to November 20, while Train No. 01432 will return from Ghazipur City every Sunday and Thursday from October 15 to November 22.
A 64-service Hadapsar–Gorakhpur–Hadapsar daily special will operate from October 16 to November 17. Train No. 01415 will depart Hadapsar daily, while Train No. 01416 will operate from Gorakhpur daily.
Two additional Nagpur–Hadapsar–Nagpur services have also been announced. The bi-weekly special will operate for 26 services, while the weekly special will operate for 14 services.
Other Services
A 64-service Kolhapur–Kalaburagi–Kolhapur special will operate five days a week, except Friday, from October 10 to November 15.
The LTT–Mau–LTT bi-weekly special will operate for 24 services, while the LTT–Banaras–LTT bi-weekly special will also operate for 24 services.
The LTT–Thiruvananthapuram North–LTT weekly special will operate for 12 services, and the LTT–Madgaon–LTT weekly special will operate for 14 services.
Booking Dates
Advance reservations for several special trains will open on September 27, 2026, while bookings for another set of services will begin on September 28.
Bookings opening on September 27 include Train Nos. 01079, 01015, 01013, 01105, 01106, 01417, 01418, 01123, 01431, 01201 and 01202.
Bookings opening on September 28 include Train Nos. 01239, 01240, 01463, 01179, 01051, 01403, 01404, 01415, 01209, 01210, 01451 and 01452.
Reservations can be made at computerised reservation centres and through the IRCTC website. Unreserved coaches will be available through the UTS system at normal charges, while passengers can also use the RailOne app for ticket booking.
Passengers can check detailed arrival and departure timings at intermediate stations through the Indian Railways enquiry portal or the NTES App.
