Pune: PMC Medical Officer Caught Accepting Rs 50,000 Bribe in Dhanori, ACB Says

Pune, 26th September 2026: The Maharashtra Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) said it caught a Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) medical officer accepting a ₹50,000 bribe during a trap at a hospital in Dhanori on Saturday.
According to an ACB, Dr Dnyaneshwar Shivram Chakore, 50, is a Class II medical officer at the civic body’s Nagar Road ward office. The complainant, a 46-year-old hospital operator, had faced an inquiry after an application alleging irregularities at the hospital was submitted to the municipal office.
The ACB alleges that Chakore told the complainant on September 18 that deficiencies at the hospital would have to be addressed.
Otherwise, he would send senior officials a report recommending cancellation of the hospital’s registration. The ACB said he initially demanded ₹20 lakh to avoid sending the report.
Following a complaint filed on September 21, the ACB conducted a verification on September 24. It said Chakore then demanded ₹50,000 and acknowledged having previously accepted money from the complainant. During a trap on September 26, officers caught him accepting ₹50,000, the agency said. He was taken into custody.
The ACB said the process of registering a case under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, was under way at Vishrantwadi police station.
