Pune: 52-Year-Old Man Arrested Over Alleged Sexual Assault Of 12-Year-Old Girl in Vishrantwadi Area

Vishrantwadi, 26th September 2026: A 52-year-old man was arrested after a case was registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl, police said.
According to police, a medical officer informed them on September 22 that a woman had brought her 12-year-old daughter to the facility and reported that the girl had allegedly been sexually assaulted on September 12.
Police recorded the statement of the 40-year-old woman and registered a case against the accused, identified as Jaysing Bhanudas Sathe, 52, a resident of Kamgar Nagar in Vishrantwadi, under Sections 74 and 351(2) of the BNS read with Section 8 of the POCSO Act. He was subsequently arrested, police said.
The minor was sent for an immediate medical examination, police said.
Police said that supplementary statements of the complainant and the minor were recorded and, based on the statements and the medical report received subsequently, additional sections were invoked in the case. Sections 65(2) of the BNS and Sections 4, 6 and 12 of the POCSO Act have been added, and a report regarding the additional sections is being submitted to the court.
Police said the complainant and the accused are neighbours and are not related to each other. The accused works as a contractual sanitation worker with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).
Further investigation into the case is underway, police said.
