Pune: Bigg Boss Marathi Fame Divya Shinde Arrested Over Rs 5 Lakh Extortion Demand, Assault on Retired Doctor
Mohammadwadi, 27th September 2026: ‘Bigg Boss Marathi’ fame and social media personality Divya Sunil Shinde, 25, has been arrested by the Kalepadal Police in connection with an alleged assault and ₹5 lakh extortion demand involving a retired medical officer in Pune. A court has remanded her to police custody until September 30.
Shinde, a resident of Suncity on Sinhagad Road, is accused of entering the house of Dr Vidyadhar Gaikwad, a former chief medical officer of the Pune Cantonment Hospital, along with several others, assaulting him and allegedly demanding ₹5 lakh. The allegations are part of a complaint filed by Gaikwad, and have not been established in court.
According to police and the complaint, the dispute relates to the ‘Kala Avishkar Mahotsav’ organised by Karunadeep Foundation at Balgandharva Rangmandir from September 1 to 3, 2026. Gaikwad is a member of the organisation.
The complaint alleges that Shinde had not been officially invited by Gaikwad or the organisation to participate in the event, nor had she been authorised to undertake its publicity. However, she allegedly claimed that she had promoted the event and subsequently sought ₹5 lakh from Gaikwad through phone calls and messages.
The complaint further states that on September 17, Shinde, Anna Dhamdhare and some others went to Gaikwad’s residence when he was not present and allegedly threatened his family members over the payment. On September 23, Dhamdhare allegedly called Gaikwad to a hotel and again demanded ₹5 lakh, threatening to send people to his house if the money was not paid.
According to the complaint, on the night of September 24, when Gaikwad was alone at home, Dhamdhare allegedly arrived at his residence. After he opened the door, Shinde and around eight to ten others allegedly entered the house and assaulted him. The complaint alleges that Gaikwad was kicked and punched and that the house was also vandalised. He was subsequently taken to Sassoon General Hospital for treatment, according to reports.
Police seek custody for further investigation
During the court hearing, police reportedly told the court that Gaikwad had been seriously injured in the alleged assault and that they needed Shinde’s custody to obtain information about the other accused persons.
Police also told the court that they needed to obtain Shinde’s handwriting sample in connection with an alleged note taken from Gaikwad stating that his car would be taken until payment related to the event was made.
The court subsequently granted police custody of Shinde until September 30.
A case has also been registered against Anna Dhamdhare and several other persons in connection with the incident. Assistant Police Inspector Amit Shete of the Kalepadal Police Station is investigating the case.
