Pune Woman Flags Rapido Safety Concern After Suspicious Auto Ride
Pune, 3rd October 2026: A woman in Pune has raised concerns over passenger safety after she alleged that a man was already present inside a Rapido auto when she arrived to take her booked ride.
In a video shared on social media, Akanksha said she had booked an auto through Rapido. According to her account, another man was already sitting inside the vehicle and got down when she arrived. She initially assumed that the man was getting down after completing his ride.
Akanksha said that as she was about to board the auto, her friend noticed that something was wrong and asked her not to get inside.
According to Akanksha, the driver then told her that they had to drop the man who had been inside the auto a little further ahead. She said that while she was initially considering getting into the vehicle, her friend again asked her to step away.
She recalls that after she got out of the auto, the driver and the man exchanged a look, which made her feel that the situation was concerning. She subsequently left the vehicle.
Calling the incident frightening, Akanksha urged women to remain cautious while booking autos or cabs through ride-hailing platforms. She also questioned passenger safety in her video and tagged Rapido over the incident.
Responding to her post in the comments, Rapido said it understood the seriousness of the matter and apologised for the fear and distress she experienced.
The company said the incident described by Akanksha was “extremely concerning” and that it took safety-related matters seriously. Rapido asked her to share her registered mobile number and Ride ID through direct message so that it could review the details.
“We will review the details and take stern necessary actions,” Rapido said in its response.
Rapido has not shared further details about the incident or any action taken against the driver in the response currently available publicly.
