Pune: Pimpri Man Sentenced to Six Months for Dishonouring Rs 5.8 Lakh Cheque

Pimpri, 6th October 2026: A court in Pimpri has sentenced a 32-year-old man to six months’ simple imprisonment for issuing a Rs 5.80 lakh cheque that was dishonoured while repaying money he had borrowed from a woman.

The court also directed the accused, Ajay Dnyaneshwar Sable, a resident of Pimpri Gaon, to pay Rs 5.80 lakh to the complainant as compensation along with simple interest at 9% per annum.

The verdict was delivered by Pimpri First Class Judicial Magistrate K K Waghmare in a complaint filed by a 61-year-old woman from Kalewadi, Pimpri.

According to the complaint, Sable had borrowed money from the woman and issued a cheque of Rs 5.80 lakh towards repayment. The cheque was subsequently dishonoured, following which she approached the court.

Advocate D S Kucheria represented the complainant, while advocate S S Pardeshi represented the accused.

Sable is employed as a pesticide spraying worker in the insecticide department of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC).
