Pune: EPFO Organises Awareness Seminar on Social Security Initiatives and Recent Changes at Chakan
Chakan, 6th October 2026: The Regional Office of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), Akurdi, Pune, organised an awareness seminar on October 6 at Tetra Pak India Private Limited, MIDC Vasuli, Chakan, in association with the Federation of Chakan Industries. A large number of employers and representatives of industrial establishments participated in the programme.
The seminar focused on recent developments and key initiatives relating to social security, including the proposed enhancement of the EPFO wage ceiling from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 per month, employment-related initiatives under EEC 2026, the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PMVBRY), and relevant provisions of the Code on Social Security.
The main speaker, Sanat Kumar, Regional Provident Fund Commissioner, Regional Office, Akurdi, Pune, explained the significance of the proposed enhancement of the EPFO wage ceiling from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 per month. He said the move is aimed at expanding social security coverage and bringing more workers within the ambit of the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) and Employees’ Pension Scheme (EPS).
He also explained the implications of the proposed enhancement for EPS coverage up to wages of ₹25,000 and the associated statutory compliance requirements.
During the interactive session, participating employers raised queries regarding the determination of PF basic wages, statutory compliance requirements, EPF contributions and the implications of the proposed enhancement of the wage ceiling. Sanat Kumar and the EPFO officer team addressed the queries and provided the necessary clarifications.
Dilip Batwal, Chief Executive Officer, and Vinod Jain of the Federation of Chakan Industries also participated in the programme and extended their support to the awareness initiative.
From the Regional Office, Akurdi, Sachin Pagare and Gopal Joshi, Enforcement Officers, explained various EPF provisions and the proposed enhancement of the EPFO wage ceiling to ₹25,000. They also provided detailed information about PMVBRY and EEC 2026, including their objectives, eligibility criteria and implementation aspects.
EPFO officials also conducted a live demonstration on the calculation of EPF wages and preparation of the Electronic Challan-cum-Return (ECR). The practical demonstration helped employers and their representatives understand the process and statutory requirements more effectively.
The seminar provided a platform for direct interaction between EPFO officials and employers and enhanced awareness about recent social security initiatives, employment-linked schemes, proposed changes in social security coverage and statutory compliance requirements.
At the end of the programme, Vishal Deshmukh, HR Head, and Mahesh Khedekar, HR Manager, Tetra Pak India Private Limited, delivered the vote of thanks and expressed their gratitude to the officials of EPFO and ESIC for conducting the awareness programme.
