Pune Sizzles at 35.7°C, Highest October Temperature Since 2002
Pune, 7th October 2026: The October heat has intensified in Pune, with the city recording a maximum temperature of 35.7°C on Tuesday — the highest October temperature recorded at Shivajinagar since 2002.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that the heat and humidity are likely to persist over the next few days. With rainfall taking a break, clear skies and increasing sunshine have pushed temperatures above normal across Pune and several parts of the district.
The impact of the October heat was visible on city roads, with several two-wheeler riders covering their faces and heads with cotton scarves while commuting.
According to IMD data, Shivajinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 21.8°C on Tuesday. Maximum temperatures in other parts of the city also remained in the 34°C to 36°C range. Lohegaon recorded 36.6°C, Chinchwad 35.5°C and Pashan 34.4°C.
The heat has also intensified across central Maharashtra, where temperatures remained above normal. Jalgaon recorded 37.5°C on Tuesday, while the state’s highest maximum temperature was 39.6°C in Amravati.
Residents have been experiencing intense sunshine since morning for the past three days, with afternoon heat and discomfort increasing. The above-normal temperatures have resulted in summer-like conditions in Pune at the beginning of October.
