Aircraft Lands In Open Field During Training Flight

Kalaburagi, Karnataka, 7th October 2026: A Tecnam P2006T aircraft operated by Redbird Aviation India made a precautionary landing in an open field in the Kalaburagi region on October 6 after experiencing a technical issue during a cross-country training flight.

The aircraft, bearing registration VT-RBN, was carrying an instructor and a trainee when the issue occurred during the flight.

According to a statement issued by Redbird Aviation India, the instructor followed emergency procedures and assessed the available landing options before identifying a suitable open area. The aircraft was subsequently landed safely in an open field.

Both occupants, the instructor and trainee, were reported to be safe and uninjured. The company said both are experienced aviation professionals with relevant operational and flying experience.

Following the incident, the aircraft was secured and inspection, reporting and assessment procedures were initiated. Redbird Aviation India said it is cooperating with the concerned authorities as they examine the circumstances surrounding the occurrence.

The exact cause of the technical issue has not been stated. The company has also requested that speculation about the circumstances or cause be avoided until the technical and regulatory assessments are completed.
