Pune, 7th October 2026: Residents of three housing societies in Wadgaon Sheri have sought government intervention after a road they say had provided access to their homes for around 15 years was allegedly dug up and blocked at midnight, leaving more than 3,000 residents facing difficulties in accessing their homes.

Residents of La Gloriosa, Silicon Bay and Nyati Enchante said the road had been used regularly by residents, school vans, working families and others for several years. They said the sudden closure has affected school-going children, senior citizens, pregnant women, young children and patients who may require access to hospitals.

According to the residents, the road had been used continuously for about 15 years and access through the route was known to families when they purchased their homes.

“We live here. Our children grow up here. We pay our taxes here. We vote here. We celebrate here. This is our home too,” the residents said in an appeal seeking intervention from the authorities.

The residents also alleged that they have repeatedly been told, “Tumhi baherun aalele aahat” (You people have come from outside), in discussions concerning the access road.

They said the issue was not about seeking any special privilege but about maintaining basic access to their homes.

“A common citizen should not have to be powerful, politically connected or influential to ask for something as basic as a road to reach home,” the residents said.

The residents have appealed to citizens to send emails to the Maharashtra Chief Minister’s office seeking intervention in the matter. They have requested people to send a brief message saying, “Please help the people of Wadgaon Sheri, Pune.”

The residents said they believe in the law and the administration and are seeking a peaceful resolution to the road-access issue.

The appeal was signed by residents of La Gloriosa Society, Silicon Bay Society and Nyati Enchante Society in Wadgaon Sheri, along with others who said they had experienced being referred to as “baherun aalele” (people who came from outside).

The residents have urged the authorities to restore or provide a viable access route to their homes and address the issue at the earliest.
