Pune, 9th October 2026: The ongoing protest over various demands related to the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) took a new turn on Thursday evening after police used a loudspeaker from a police van to ask protesters to vacate the site. However, MLA Rohit Pawar refused to call off the agitation, insisting that it would continue until the students’ demands were addressed.

A large number of students and competitive examination aspirants have gathered at the protest site. Repeated appeals by the police to clear the area have caused unease among the protesters.

The police have cited the possibility of traffic congestion and inconvenience to citizens due to the agitation. However, the protesters have maintained that asking them to vacate the site without addressing their concerns is not appropriate.

The students have raised several demands concerning transparency in MPSC examinations, examination procedures, recruitment to vacant posts and the functioning of the commission.

Pawar has maintained that the agitation will continue until concrete decisions are taken on the students’ demands. The next round of discussions between the administration and the protesters could prove crucial in determining the course of the agitation.
